Inside Edition Investigates U-Haul Trailer Safety in NJ.

Trailer safety is discussed in this video.  It states that safety pamphlets are supposed to be distributed with all U-Haul trailer rentals; but only one out of 14 rental agents randomly visited in the Bergen County, New Jersey area gave out the safety booklet with a trailer rental.  This booklet contains critical information about properly loading a trailer.

This video segment demonstrates that most of the weight should be loaded toward the front of a trailer, and that disasterous consequences could result from most of the weight being loaded toward the back of the trailer.

Traffic safety officers with the Bergen County Police Department inspected the 14 trailers randomly rented and found that four of the 14 trailers had directional or hazard lights that didn’t work, as well as numerous other safety violations such as rusted chains, frayed wire, no brake fluid and vital safety info worn off.

Joe Shoen (U-Haul’s CEO) invites you to call his cell phone if you feel unsafe when renting a U-Haul trailer: 602-390-6525.

Hi my name is Kimberly a year 1 month ago my thanks for placing you box located in Oakland California off of 81st and San Leandro Boulevard at that particular time the onsite manager his name was Dave the manager then and still is her name is Miss Tasha she has been the only one that has been helping me with this horrific situation my things were placed in that you box I had a 10-foot truck which was filled from front to back top to bottom and side that U-Haul truck what’s my mother-in-law ashes when my husband and I decide to come pay for our uboxes we’re informed that they’re only able to find one you box so instead of us paying for two you boxes we only paid for one for what the one that they have on their property now within this year in one month de the onsite manager had no knowledge what was going on the only person that had knowledge that was going on that was actually trying to help was the warehouse manager Miss Tasha now did you box that is on their property it gets broken into and it stays go for one month Now Grant you they’re still looking for this missing you box someone day my husband goes into to the facility and he is speaking with someone and someone from the corporate office over here’s him unfortunately my husband did not get his name but he was kind enough to do some investigating and he told my husband that that missing you box had been shipped out of state so they’re trying to get this U-Box sent back to California for which never did happen because now they’re trying to state or should I say mr. Levi State now that I only had one you box but he has said himself well you had a 10-foot truck that was full from top to bottom from front to back there is no way that all your belongings could fit into one you box but he’s adamant on stating that I’ve only had one U-Box now the ironic thing to this is now the missing you box come to find out that I’ve been paying on the missing you box thinking that the you box that I was paying for was it you bought that was on the property so what I have for mr. Levi he has enough nerve to tell me oh do you box that’s on the property and the U-Box that you’ve been paying for it even though they have different SKU numbers are the same uboxes for which I know isn’t true this facility has no paperwork at all regarding the U-Box I do so you admit to killing and then they have enough nerve I should say mr. Levi had enough nerve to tell my husband and I well how do we know that your mother was even in the uboxes all the nerve what’s in that you box cannot be replaced from when my mother-in-law my mother-in-law’s mother’s Crystal my mother-in-law’s mother’s China that she gave to me the first Christmas ornaments my husband and I picked out together obituary baby pictures graduation pictures pictures of children graduating from college none of that can be replaced and for U-Haul to just downright scuse my fridge don’t give a damn about my belongings are our belongings it’s just unsympathetic don’t refuse to take full responsibility for the mishandling of a property to add insult on top of insult they had enough nerve to operas $8,000 saying that should cover everything I failed 5 minutes that doesn’t cover everything that’s only covers the do box that was broken into on their property that doesn’t cover the rest of my household my whole entire household is missing and they just refuse to take responsibility of this
